Our Purpose

We believe that human life is the best opportunity to LEARN, GROW and ACHIEVE the highest experience the universe has to offer and we want everyone to have the necessities to achieve the goal of life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to influence and support vulnerable people and their communities to become positive and constructive contributors to society. To enable us to achieve our mission we encourage people to participate in their own growth and development by making use of the Ashram’s LEARN, GROW and ACHIEVE services. When others grow, we all grow, our organisation, the people we serve, our communities, society and the world

Business & Delivery Model

  • We operate a simple business model with a simple delivery principle, and that is, to identify the needs of the vulnerable, & come up with sustainable solutions to help them learn, grow and achieve
  • We are well aware that needs, and scale of needs is a changing factor in social work. Based on this knowing we continuously assess, adjust and adapt our programs based on participation, peoples growth and most importantly financial resources.
  • Factors such as outcomes, results and sustainability, also determine how much, & where we invest our resources.
  • Another important business practice in ensuring our financial viability by focussing and driving operational efficiencies within the existing model. This has become the single biggest focus of our organisation in the last decade.
  • Cost Savings & Sustainability- We have been investing in many cost savings initiatives such as rain water harvesting, bore-hole water system, & solar energy, to not only save on operating cost but to also save the planet.
  • Our donation to services ratio is 1:1, in other words 100% of all donations are used to deliver our services to the people of our communities.
  • Our operational management team and staff come from the communities we work in. They benefit, their families benefit, their communities benefit.
  • Our senior leadership are all volunteers. We also have many full and part-time volunteers in our operations

Funding

Most of our funding is derived from the public, small businesses & in recent years from private funding organisations. Funding is also generated internally within our operations from many fundraising efforts. In addition to cash contributions we also accept donations in kind typically in the form of food items, clothing, gift packs, toys and stationery, building material, etc.

Financial Accountability

  • Sarva Dharma Ashram Seva Trust is registered Trust in the court of South Africa. We are also registered non-profit (NPO) & a South Africa Revenue Service (SARS) public benefit organisation (PBO) This means that we are obligated to meet strict reporting criteria as determined by the necessary authorities.
  • We also have an obligation to our donors in ensuring that best business practices are adhered to, in all our spend.
  • We also have an obligation to the people we help in ensuring that the community benefits the maximum.
  • We are held financially accountable by maintaining up to date financial records and regular reporting to the necessary authorities & to our donors.
